Grave allegations of financial malfeasance which cannot be ignored.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of social media personality Martins Innocent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over multiple petitions alleging serious financial misconduct.

According to a statement released on Tuesday, the EFCC noted that Otse “refused to show up in spite of several invitations sent to him through his known addresses and medium of communication.”

The Commission stated that the petitions involved “grave allegations of financial malfeasance which cannot be ignored.” It added that Otse is currently in custody under a valid Remand Order but has been offered administrative bail and will be released once he meets the set conditions.

“This is not the first time VDM has found himself in conflict with authorities over his outspoken videos,” the report stated.

Earlier, SaharaReporters reported that the Public Interest Lawyers League (PILL) condemned “the unlawful arrest and continued detention” of Otse by the EFCC, urging compliance with legal standards.
