“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” – EFCC spokesperson
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of social media influencer Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, following several petitions alleging cyberstalking.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale disclosed this to BBC News Pidgin on Monday, stating that the arrest followed complaints from multiple individuals.
“We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners,” Oyewale said.
He added, “We will release him when he meets the bail conditions and we will take the case to court as soon as possible; we are law-abiding.”
When asked whether the case was linked to Guaranty Trust Bank, Oyewale said the petitions were from various individuals and stressed the agency’s obligation to protect complainants.
Oyewale also confirmed that the agency intends to arraign the influencer soon.
