An Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) witness on Friday told a Federal High Court in Abuja how the cost of the Katsina airport terminal project was inflated from N800 million to N2.7 billion. The testimony is part of the ongoing trial involving an alleged N19.4 billion fraud.

The witness, Oyedepo Adebayo, an investigative officer with the EFCC, explained how the original project cost was significantly increased under questionable circumstances.

“The terminal building was initially designed at the cost of N800 million,” he said. “However, the cost was later raised to N2.7 billion without appropriate justification.”

The trial, which involves former officials of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), is centered on alleged financial irregularities and abuse of procurement processes.
