President Bola Tinubu says his administration has disbursed N330 billion to eight million households under the federal government’s social investment programme to support poor and vulnerable Nigerians.
President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday said his administration has disbursed N330 billion to eight million households under the federal government’s social investment programme.
The President made the disclosure during his 65th Independence Anniversary broadcast, where he highlighted government efforts to cushion the hardship faced by Nigerians.
“Under the social investment programme to support poor households and vulnerable Nigerians, N330 billion has been disbursed to eight million households, many of whom have received either one or two out of the three tranches of the N25,000 each,” Tinubu said.
He noted that despite numerous economic and security challenges, Nigeria has made remarkable progress over the past 65 years of independence. According to him, the country has demonstrated resilience and survival against odds that could have broken its foundation.
The President assured Nigerians that ongoing reforms were designed to stabilise the economy and strengthen social welfare systems. He further stressed that the government’s priority remained improving the welfare of citizens while creating opportunities for inclusive growth.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, adding that sacrifices being made today would translate into sustainable development and prosperity for future generations.
