The Lagos State Government has outlined phased repair works and traffic management measures to minimize disruption during the eight-month rehabilitation of the Lekki–Ajah road.
According to a report from PUNCH, the Lagos State Government has assured residents and commuters of strategic traffic management ahead of the rehabilitation of the Lekki–Ajah corridor, set to begin Saturday, November 15, 2025, and run through Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, the government said the works would be executed in phases, with only specific sections of the corridor undergoing repairs at any time. “The rehabilitation work will be implemented in carefully planned phases to ensure that daily movement is not disrupted,” the statement read.
Giwa noted that alternative routes, including the Coastal Road and adjoining service lanes, would be strengthened, while night-shift construction schedules and adequate LASTMA personnel would help reduce congestion. “We urge everyone to bear with the temporary inconvenience as we work to make commuting safer, faster, and more convenient for all,” he added.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said Phase 1 will cover Lekki 1st Toll Gate to Lekki 2nd Toll Gate, while Phase 2 will cover Lekki 2nd Toll Gate to Ajah Under-Bridge. “Some sections of the road will be partially closed during the repair period. Motorists are advised to be patient and follow traffic directions,” he stated.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to continuous public engagement and world-class infrastructure delivery throughout the project.
