The Alara of Aramoko Ekiti, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, has died at the age of 82. The monarch passed away on Friday, as confirmed in a statement released by his family on Saturday.

The family lauded Oba Adeyemi’s “remarkable leadership, wisdom, and dedication to the welfare of his people,” noting his reign advanced “community development, cultural preservation, conflict resolution, and youth empowerment.”

Born on December 4, 1942, the late monarch was a former teacher and civil servant before ascending the throne in 2009. During his reign, he also served as the Chancellor of Ekiti State University. His family said, “he supported initiatives to enhance educational standards and access for local students.” Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
