Former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai has reminded officials in President Tinubu’s government that power is fleeting, urging them to reflect and learn from past administrations.
Former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has urged members of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to remember that political power is temporary.
Speaking on Thursday at the launch of OPL245: The Inside Story of the $1.3b Nigerian Oil Bloc, a book by former Attorney General Mohammed Bello Adoke (SAN), El-Rufai said, “I appeal to those in power today to remember that their turn will come. Our turn always comes.”
He praised Adoke’s contribution to democracy, recalling how he persuaded former President Goodluck Jonathan to concede after the 2015 elections.
“We should actually thank him as the APC government of 2015, not persecute him,” El-Rufai said.
He also encouraged more public officials to write memoirs: “We don’t try it enough in this country.”
Adoke was discharged and acquitted over the OPL 245 case — a $1.3 billion oil bloc scandal involving Shell, Eni, and alleged bribes to Nigerian officials. El-Rufai said he looks forward to reading the book for deeper insights.
