Musk said Gates’ scepticism occurred “during the early days of Tesla’s heavy-duty electric truck development

According to YAHOO FINANCE reporting, Elon Musk accused Bill Gates of being “not strong” in science, revisiting a visit to the Tesla, Inc. factory where Gates reportedly dismissed long-range semitrucks as “impossible”. The remarks came during remarks by Musk in a public forum where he recalled the exchange with Gates, saying that Gates had expressed scepticism over the viability of Tesla’s large-scale battery and transport ambitions. Musk added, “he was a nice guy, but he just didn’t get the engineering side of it,” and highlighted that Gates had asked why Tesla was focusing on trucks when “diesel already works”. According to the report, Musk said the dismissive comment occurred during the early days of Tesla’s heavy-duty electric truck development. The article noted that Musk emphasised the importance of hands-on engineering and signalled frustration that a key figure in the tech and philanthropy world had underestimated the potential of electric heavy vehicles. Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft Corporation, did not respond publicly to the latest remarks. The report said the exchange underscores ongoing tensions between tech billionaires over energy, transportation and innovation.
