Elon Musk has resigned from his U.S. government position, announcing he will refocus on Tesla and SpaceX after months of friction over federal spending. The billionaire confirmed his departure as a Special Government Employee on X, thanking former President Trump for the opportunity to curb “wasteful spending” but openly criticizing the GOP’s “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act” for expanding the deficit.

“I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill… which increases the budget deficit,” Musk told CBS, dismissing claims it could be both “big” and “beautiful.” Trump aide Stephen Miller countered: “The Big Beautiful Bill is NOT an annual budget bill,” insisting DOGE reforms need separate legislation.
