Musk accused Trump of lying and pushing a bill few in Congress had time to read.
Billionaire Elon Musk has sharply criticized former President Donald Trump, accusing him of dishonesty over claims Musk supported a controversial spending bill.
“False, this bill was never shown to me even once,” Musk posted on X Thursday, adding it was passed “in the dead of night.”
The fallout follows Musk’s resignation from the Department of Government Efficiency after 129 days and his outspoken opposition to the bill, which he says inflates national debt and is laden with “DISGUSTING PORK.”
At a joint news conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump countered: “Elon knew the inner workings of this bill better than almost anybody. All of a sudden he had a problem.”
Musk denied self-interest: “Keep the EV/solar incentive cuts, but ditch the MOUNTAIN of DISGUSTING PORK.”
In a dramatic twist, Musk alleged Trump is named in classified Epstein files. “That is the real reason they have not been made public,” Musk said.
“Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
