The Emir of Gwoza, HRH Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, has confirmed the death of a captain and a private soldier following a Boko Haram attack on Izge community in Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State.

The attack occurred around 1 a.m. on Wednesday. According to the Emir, “a captain and a soldier paid the supreme price,” but three terrorists were killed in a swift response by the military, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), local hunters, vigilantes, and residents.

Recovered items include over 10 bicycles, motorcycles, a military vehicle, and a sophisticated rifle.

“Let me commend our military forces for their bravery,” the Emir said, noting ongoing efforts to track the fleeing terrorists.

He also urged the federal government to address the renewed violence. “I want to equally call on the federal government to equip our security forces with technological warfare/weapons to defeat the remnants of Boko Haram,” he stated.

He prayed for the fallen soldiers and their families.
