I regret to myself for being hardworking. The stress and mental ability that goes into this type of work… is draining me,” Davido said.

Afrobeats singer Davido says he works for passion, not money, despite being from a wealthy background. Following his sold-out show at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, he told music executive Bankulli that his career takes a mental toll.

“I regret to myself for being hardworking. The stress and mental ability that goes into this type of work… is draining me,” Davido said. “But I have to do it. It’s not for the money; I have billions of dollars waiting for me. Even if I don’t work again in my life… But I’m working because I love my job and my fans.”

Meanwhile, rapper CDQ revealed in an Echoo Room interview that Davido once offered him a record deal. Davido allegedly wanted to invest his African tour earnings into CDQ’s career. However, the deal fell apart when producer Masterkraft proposed a partnership instead of a traditional contract.

“Davido… wanted to sign me,” CDQ recalled. “But Davido declined the partnership, and the deal fell through.”
