Ex- Ishaku Abbo says God directed him to quit APC after a 31-day prayer and fasting exercise, signaling a spiritually driven political realignment

Former Adamawa North Senator, Ishaku Elisha Abbo, says divine direction has compelled him to leave the All Progressives Congress (APC), admitting his earlier defection from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2020 was a mistake. Abbo, who joined APC citing political expediency, disclosed in a personal statement that he acted “purely on tangible reasons, human judgment, and the desire to go with the tide” without seeking God’s guidance.

The ex-lawmaker explained that he recently concluded a 31-day fasting and prayer session, during which he sought clarity on his political future. “This time around, I have undertaken 31 days of fasting and prayers, seeking directions. Among other things, I asked God to reveal His will for me,” he said. Abbo added that a formal declaration on his next political step would be made after consultations with his associates and community leaders.

His remarks reflect a shift tuoward spiritually guided politics as Nigeria faces new realignments ahead of future elections.
