Garnacho becomes Chelsea’s seventh summer signing as boss Enzo Maresca outlines plans for the winger.
Chelsea have completed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United in a deal worth £40million after weeks of negotiations. Blues boss Enzo Maresca confirmed the winger was at Cobham on Friday completing his medical and finalising details of the transfer.
“I know he is around here,” Maresca said during his press conference. “I don’t know exactly where.”
Garnacho becomes Chelsea’s seventh summer signing and will compete with Pedro Neto and Jamie Gittens for a place on the wing. Maresca added: “It’s quite clear he’s a winger. I see him as a winger,” reports Manchester Evening News.
The move draws parallels with Juan Sebastian Veron’s controversial switch from United to Chelsea in 2003. Veron later admitted he regretted the decision, saying: “With United, the truth is that there are few things, very few, that I regret. But one is to have left Manchester… I should have stayed.”
