Joe Biden is receiving radiation and hormone therapy in a new phase of treatment for aggressive prostate cancer diagnosed in May.
Former United States President Joe Biden is undergoing radiation and hormone therapy as part of his treatment for prostate cancer, diagnosed in May, his spokesperson confirmed on Saturday. “As part of a treatment plan for prostate cancer, President Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment,” the spokesperson said, according to NBC News.
The new phase of treatment is expected to last about five weeks. Biden, 82, had already been taking hormone medication, which he publicly acknowledged earlier this year. His office previously disclosed that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones.
Biden first addressed the diagnosis in May, expressing confidence in his recovery, saying: “The expectation is we are going to be able to beat this.” Now retired after a single term in office, he resides in Delaware and is set to turn 83 next month. In September, he underwent surgery to remove cancerous skin cells.
