Former Wike aide Opunabo Inko-Tariah has demanded accountability from Rivers Sole Administrator Ette Ibas over funds spent during emergency rule.

PORT HARCOURT – Former media aide to ex-Governor Nyesom Wike, Mr. Opunabo Inko-Tariah, has demanded that the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ette Ibas (rtd), account for funds received during the six-month emergency rule imposed on the state.

Speaking ahead of the September 18 expiration of emergency rule and the return of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Inko-Tariah accused the administrator of mismanaging state resources. “Vice Admiral Ibas will account for every kobo he collected from federal allocation and the IGR. We all know what is happening in the state. Our internally generated revenue is over N20 billion monthly,” he stated.

He faulted the rationale behind the emergency declaration, saying Rivers State was not under insecurity prior to the intervention. “There was no insecurity in Rivers State before, during and after the coming of the sole administrator,” he said, alleging political motives behind the suspension of Governor Fubara.

On 2027 politics, Inko-Tariah predicted that President Bola Tinubu would face a tough contest if the opposition rallies behind Labour Party’s Peter Obi. “If they can allow Peter Obi to clinch the ticket, he will give Tinubu a tough fight,” he stressed, while dismissing calls for former President Goodluck Jonathan to re-enter the race.
