Just weeks after retirement, former DIG Ari Muhammed Ali has joined the APC and is eyeing a Senate seat in Nasarawa South ahead of the 2027 elections.
Retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Ari Muhammed Ali has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is planning to contest for a Senate seat in the 2027 general elections, SaharaReporters has learnt.
Ari, who retired from the police force in March 2025, served as DIG in charge of Operations at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. He was among several senior officers discharged by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, who himself faces controversy for refusing to retire.
Sources told SaharaReporters that Ari would run for Senate in Nasarawa South under the APC. “Ari Mohammed is equally contesting for Senate under APC in the Nasarawa South,” a top source revealed on Saturday.
Ari’s move follows the footsteps of former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu, who earlier declared his governorship ambition for Nasarawa State in 2027 under the APC.
Adamu said he was responding to a “clarion call” from the people and pledged an inclusive, transparent government if elected.
