“Attacking the Yoruba race does not strengthen your case. It weakens your argument,” says Fani-Kayode.

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has warned former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, to stop attacking the Yoruba ethnic group.

In an X post on Wednesday, Fani-Kayode responded to comments Babachir made earlier in the week, where he alleged that Yorubas cannot be trusted and often converse in their language during meetings. Babachir further claimed the group fails to acknowledge support from others after political victories.

“I advise you to be very careful with your words and your characterisation of an entire race, my dear brother Babachir Lawal,” Fani-Kayode wrote. “Attacking the Yoruba race does not strengthen your case. It diminishes you, weakens your argument, and destroys your credibility.”

He reminded Babachir that President Bola Tinubu nominated him for the SGF position during Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Fani-Kayode added that such comments risk deepening divisions rather than fostering unity.
