Fani-Kayode: ‘Christian genocide’ narrative a Western ploy to divide Nigeria

Femi Fani-Kayode has warned that recent Western claims of “Christian genocide” in Nigeria are dangerous attempts to divide the country, insisting terrorists target both Christians and Muslims.

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has dismissed allegations by Western commentators and lawmakers that Nigeria is witnessing a “Christian genocide,” describing it as a divisive narrative.

He cited remarks by U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, CNN’s Van Jones, and comedian Bill Maher, alongside a Canadian Parliament resolution, which labelled Nigeria unsafe for Christians.

“The truth is that the Americans, their allies and their local collaborators are carefully and craftily preparing the ground for a religious war in our country,” Fani-Kayode said in a statement on Sunday.

He argued that Islamist terrorists like Boko Haram and ISWAP have killed Muslims in equal numbers.

“If there was a Christian genocide going on in Nigeria I would be the first to expose, oppose, resist and fight against it,” he said. “The reality is… it is being perpetuated by… terrorists that take pleasure in killing people of all faiths.”
