“The crisis should serve as a wake-up call for our leaders and citizens to strengthen national resolve.”
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has reacted to alleged remarks U.S. President Donald Trump, who threatened possible military action against Nigeria, declaring that the country would defend its sovereignty against any external aggression.
According to local media reporting, Fani-Kayode, in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, described Trump’s comments as “provocative and unjustified,” urging Nigerian leaders and citizens to respond with unity and seriousness.
Imagine a deranged & sociopathic meglomaniac & tyrant, a recalcitrant and unrepentant schoolyard and dockside bully and a cheap and shameless godless scumbag like @realDonaldTrump

He warned that foreign powers often misrepresent Nigeria while “ignoring their own role in global instability.” He added that such international double standards could fuel domestic tensions if not handled with caution.
Fani-Kayode further cautioned against overreliance on diplomatic reassurances, stressing that shifts in U.S. politics could alter future policies toward Nigeria. “The crisis should serve as a wake-up call for our leaders and citizens to strengthen national resolve,” he wrote.
He emphasised national fortitude and collective dignity, urging Nigerians to resist narratives that threaten unity or sovereignty. “Any foreign action framed as protecting one community could worsen internal divisions,” he added.
Fani-Kayode’s comments come amid diplomatic tensions following Washington’s statements about alleged violence against religious groups in Nigeria.
