Andre Onana’s assist for Paul Onuachu in Trabzonspor’s 1-1 draw against Gaziantep sent fans into frenzy, reigniting debate over his Manchester United struggles.
On-loan Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana sent football fans into a frenzy after providing a brilliant assist for Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu in Trabzonspor’s 1-1 draw against Gaziantep on Saturday in the Turkish Super Lig.
Onana, who joined the Turkish club on a season-long loan to escape a difficult spell at Old Trafford, showcased his ball-playing skills when he launched a precise pass behind Gaziantep’s defence. Onuachu, who recently joined Trabzonspor permanently from Southampton, held off defenders before calmly finishing for his third goal of the season.
It was Onana’s second appearance for the club, having impressed in his debut last week with eight saves despite a 1-0 loss to Fenerbahce.
Fans took to social media to praise the Cameroonian shot-stopper, with many insisting he was not the problem at United.
One fan wrote, “The only reason Onana was poor at United is because they didn’t allow him to play his way.”
The 29-year-old will return to action on September 27 when Trabzonspor face Fatih Karagumruk.
