FBI agents searched John Bolton’s home and office in a classified documents probe, drawing sharp reactions from Trump and officials.

FBI agents searched the home and office of former national security adviser John Bolton on Friday in an investigation linked to classified information. Law enforcement officers were seen at Bolton’s Bethesda, Maryland residence and Washington DC office, removing boxes during the operation.

The Justice Department has not filed charges, and Bolton has not been detained. He has yet to comment. President Trump told reporters he did not “want to get involved” but called Bolton a “sleazebag.”

Vice President JD Vance told NBC News that classified documents are “certainly part of [the investigation],” stressing the case was not politically motivated.

Bolton, a longtime critic of Trump since resigning in 2019, previously faced accusations of disclosing secrets in his 2020 memoir. The Justice Department later dropped its lawsuit.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said, “America’s safety isn’t negotiable. Justice will be pursued. Always.”
