Staff members of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday barricaded the entrance of the FCTA Complex in Abuja, demanding the immediate removal of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike over alleged neglect of staff welfare.
The protesters, drawn from various departments, cited unpaid wages, delayed promotions, lack of training, and poor working conditions as reasons for their action.
“We can no longer endure this hardship,” one worker said during the protest.
A video shared by News Central TV showed the protest began early Monday with placard-bearing staff chanting solidarity songs and calling for change.
“Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) staff in Abuja have barricaded the entrance of the FCTA Complex… protesting unpaid wages, delayed promotions, and poor work conditions,” the report confirmed.
The workers accused Wike’s administration of worsening staff welfare and failing to provide basic work materials.
As of press time, the minister’s office had not issued a response.
