Femi Adesina, former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has praised the late leader’s integrity, saying he lived a corruption-free life. In a tribute article, Adesina stated that Buhari “never asked for a dime” from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), citing a conversation with former NNPCL GMD Mele Kyari.

He highlighted Buhari’s personal modesty, including rejecting an SUV gift from a contractor and having friends pay his children’s school fees. Adesina also recalled Buhari’s directive to Minister Babatunde Fashola to prioritize key infrastructure projects like the Second Niger Bridge and major expressways.

“I must stop, though there are hundreds of stories still to tell,” Adesina wrote, listing anecdotes of Buhari’s personal moments and interactions with prominent Nigerians.

“President Buhari was an icon, a unique man. Perfect? No man is. His shortcomings… have been interred with his bones. The good he did lives after him,” he concluded.
