FG announces burial arrangements for Buhari

President Tinubu declared a seven-day national mourning from July 13.

The Federal Government has announced a State Burial for former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died in London over the weekend.

At a press briefing in Abuja, Minister of Information Mohammed Idris said the burial would be conducted with “dignity and national honour” as directed by President Bola Tinubu. An Inter-Ministerial Committee chaired by SGF Senator George Akume will coordinate with Katsina State and the Buhari family.

National mourning and public holiday
President Tinubu declared a seven-day national mourning from July 13. Flags will fly at half-mast, and Tuesday, July 15, is a public holiday. “All state governments and the private sector are hereby directed to comply,” Idris stated.

FEC members to Katsina, FEC meeting rescheduled
Twenty-five FEC members will attend rites in Daura, including Third-Day Prayers on July 16. The Tuesday FEC meeting is now rescheduled to July 18.

Arrival of remains and burial in Daura
Vice President Shettima leads a delegation in London. Buhari’s remains will arrive in Katsina on July 15, followed by Jana’iza and burial in Daura.

Condolences and tributes
Condolence registers will be opened nationwide and abroad. President Tinubu continues receiving tributes from global leaders.
