The official handover of the 119 benin bronzes by the government of the kingdom of the Netherlands is the result of the intensive cooperation between experts and representatives from both nations.
The minister of Arts, culture, tourism and creative economy Hannatu Musa Musawa signed and received the certificate of return for the artefacts on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria.
Adeola Kanmi-Akere who witnessed the event reports that representative of the Oba of Benin, high powered delegation from the Oba’s palace, Edo state governor the diplomatic corps were present at the handover ceremony.
