The federal government has commenced payment of the N35,000 wage award arrears to civil servants, the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) announced in Abuja.
According to the OAGF, several federal government employees have confirmed receipt of the payment, while others yet to receive theirs will be paid soon. “Payments would be done in instalments of N35,000 for five months,” the statement noted.
The office also dismissed media reports claiming the N35,000 wage award was excluded from the 2025 Budget. “The Accountant General of the Federation, Babatunde Ogunjimi, never said the N35,000 wage award was excluded from the 2025 Budget,” it stated.
It added that Ogunjimi did not brief the press on the wage award matter and reassured workers that all outstanding arrears would be paid as earlier promised by the federal government.
