“This is part of the Federal Government initiative for broader national programme aimed at generating accurate and up-to-date data on housing demand and supply gaps.”

The Federal Government has announced plans to provide 500 housing units in each state of the federation, alongside 1,000 units in Renewed Hope City across the six geopolitical zones.

Mr. Ahmed Akintola, Director of Urban Development at the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, disclosed this on Thursday in Akure during a courtesy visit to the state Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Mr. Sunday Olajide. He added that 100 units would also be provided in each of the 774 local governments.

Akintola said his team, including building experts and a consulting firm, was in Ondo State to conduct a housing deficit survey. “This is part of the Federal Government initiative for broader national programme aimed at generating accurate and up-to-date data on housing demand and supply gaps,” he said.

Responding, Olajide commended the initiative, assuring the team of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s support to facilitate affordable housing delivery.
