FIFA President Gianni Infantino has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo could still feature in the upcoming Club World Cup, despite Al-Nassr’s failure to qualify.
“There are discussions with some clubs,” Infantino told streamer IShowSpeed. “If any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup… who knows, who knows.”
Ronaldo, 40, is out of contract this summer and may be available for a short-term move. Spanish outlet Marca reported a Brazilian club had approached him, with Botafogo coach Renato Paiva responding humorously: “Christmas is only in December. But if he came, you can’t say no to a star like that.”
The expanded 32-team tournament, set for June 14 in the U.S., will feature Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami and top European clubs including Real Madrid and Juventus.
FIFA has introduced a special transfer window from June 1–10 to facilitate last-minute squad changes for the tournament.
