The operation, carried out by the Garda National Immigration Bureau, involved 21 men, nine women and five children deported as part of family groups.
According to An Garda Síochána, the agency continues working with the Department of Justice to implement immigration policy.
This marks the third chartered deportation flight in 2025. Minister for Justice Jim O’Callaghan said deportations are “the foundation of any modern rules-based immigration process,” emphasizing that “people coming to Ireland must follow the appropriate pathways for legal migration.”
The flight experienced a medical emergency but later resumed, arriving safely in Nigeria. “I want to thank the members of An Garda Síochána and my officials for their work,” the minister said.
In 2024, 2,403 deportation orders were signed, with 1,116 people leaving the State. So far in 2025, 1,940 orders have been issued and 888 people have departed.
