Ganiyu Obasa, son of Lagos Speaker, declares bid for Agege APC chairmanship

Ganiyu Obasa, the 32-year-old son of Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, has declared his intention to contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmanship ticket in Agege Local Government Area.

He made the announcement during a rally with APC ward executives, where he pledged to build on his father’s developmental legacy by focusing on quality education, improved infrastructure, and responsive governance.

“My aspiration is to continue the work of progress and ensure every Agege resident feels the impact of good leadership,” Ganiyu stated.

His father, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has been a prominent figure in Agege politics since 2003, representing Agege Constituency 1 for six consecutive terms. He served as Speaker from 2015 until his impeachment in January 2025, after which he was reinstated in March.

There are growing speculations that the senior Obasa is eyeing the Lagos State Governorship seat in 2027.
