NNPP chieftain Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo has rejected the House of Representatives’ proposal to make voting mandatory. He described it as unconstitutional and a violation of civil liberties.
“In a democracy, voting is a civil liberty, not a legal obligation,” he said, warning that coercive voting laws infringe on citizens’ rights and are unworkable without a reliable national database.
