Nottingham Forest are threatening legal action over Tottenham’s pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White, citing a possible breach of a confidentiality clause in the player’s release agreement.

Nottingham Forest are considering legal action against Tottenham Hotspur over their pursuit of midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, BBC Sport reports. Forest are investigating whether Spurs violated a confidentiality clause tied to the £60m release clause in Gibbs-White’s contract.

BBC Sport earlier reported that the 24-year-old was due for a medical on Friday, but Forest sources say they never granted permission for talks and accuse Tottenham of breaching Premier League rules.

“Forest’s threat to take legal action is genuine,” a source said, insisting the club is prepared to go to any length to block the transfer.

Under Premier League regulations, clubs must seek consent before speaking to contracted players at other teams.

Tottenham are aware of Forest’s stance but remain hopeful of concluding a deal.

Gibbs-White joined Forest from Wolves in 2022 and has since made 118 appearances. He debuted for England in September and last featured in a friendly against Senegal under Thomas Tuchel.

Spurs recently signed Mohammed Kudus from West Ham for £55m.
