Discharged soldiers returned to the streets in Abuja, demanding payment of their entitlements after earlier promises were not fulfilled.
Discharged Nigerian soldiers on Thursday resumed protests in Abuja, demanding payment of their entitlements.
They had suspended an earlier protest on August 4 after officials from the Defence and Finance Ministries promised payment by August 10.
Gathering at the Finance Ministry, the ex-servicemen accused authorities of failing to honour those assurances. One protester, Mama G, said, “We had no choice but to return to the streets. This time around, the protest will be massive.” Officials have yet to comment on the renewed demonstrations.
