A former teacher has been banned from teaching indefinitely after receiving an indecent video involving a child and failing to alert authorities.
William Gee, 32, admitted to accessing, storing or making indecent images of children, according to a Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) report. He also admitted failing to report a video sent to him around October 28, 2022, which he believed contained sexual content involving someone under 16.
The TRA panel heard that Gee received the video via WhatsApp from someone he believed was “romantically interested in him.”
Gee worked at St Benedict’s Catholic High School in Warwickshire from 2020, serving as head of music and later assistant head. He began his teaching career in 2016 in Birmingham.
The TRA found his actions fell short of professional expectations and imposed a lifetime ban.
