France’s Caroline Garcia has announced her retirement from tennis, revealing that the 2025 French Open, which begins on Sunday, will be her final appearance at Roland Garros.

“Dear tennis, it’s time to say goodbye,” Garcia, 31, wrote on social media. “After 15 years competing at the highest level, and more than 25 years putting pretty much every second of my life into it, I feel ready to start a new chapter.”

A former world number four, Garcia boasts 11 WTA singles titles and nearly $19 million in career prize money. In 2022, she won the WTA Finals and claimed her second French Open women’s doubles title alongside Kristina Mladenovic. That same year, she reached the US Open semi-finals in singles — her best Grand Slam performance.

“My tennis journey hasn’t always been easy… it’s been love or hate. Happiness or anger,” she reflected. “But now, it’s time for something else. My body and my personal goals need it.”
