Four people were killed in fresh cult clashes between Aiye and Eiye groups in Ogun and Lagos, heightening fears of reprisal attacks.
At least four people have been killed in separate cult clashes in Ogun and Lagos States, sparking renewed concerns over recurring violence linked to rival confraternities.
PUNCH Metro learnt that three persons were shot dead on Monday night during a clash between suspected members of the Aiye and Eiye confraternities in the Kajola area of Atan-Ota, Ogun State.
A security source said the attack was a reprisal by Aiye members for the earlier killing of one of their members. “There was a cult clash between Aiye and Eiye. The Aiye group killed some Eiye members. When they stormed the area, they shot sporadically and caused tension before killing the victims,” the source revealed.
An advocacy group, NaijaConfra, confirmed the incident, identifying one of the victims as an Eiye member nicknamed Coded.
In a related incident, a security guard identified as Ijaya was killed in Ojo, Lagos, by suspected Eiye members on Monday night. He was attacked in front of his house on ECOWAS Street.
Efforts to reach the police spokespersons in Lagos and Ogun were unsuccessful at press time.
