Four UK-based Nigerians and six others have been sentenced to a combined 55 years in prison for a string of violent phone store robberies across London.
Four Nigerians who were part of a phone-robbery syndicate terrorising the London metropolis have been sentenced to a combined jail term of 55 years by the Kingston Crown Court in the United Kingdom, according to a report from PUNCH Metro.
The report cited a statement from the UK Metropolitan Police on Monday identifying the convicts as David Akintola, Ayomide Olaribiro, Olabiyi Obasa, and David Okewole, alongside six others — James Adodo, Robert Hills, Nelson Joel, Michael Babo, Mushtakim Miah, and Laville Bloise.
Between September and November 2024, the group executed 13 robberies, targeting mostly EE stores. “The group targeted mostly EE stores, using threats of violence to force staff to open secure stock rooms before making off with high-value mobile phones and other devices,” the police statement said, noting that the stolen goods were worth £240,000.
Police linked the suspects through DNA, call data, and vehicle records, arresting four members mid-robbery at an EE shop in Kilburn. Eight suspects pleaded guilty to conspiracy to rob and were sentenced on November 7, 2025, with individual jail terms ranging from three to ten years.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that two others received lighter sentences for attempted robbery.
