Omoyele Sowore regained freedom Friday and accused the Nigerian police of impunity, illegality, and political repression under President Tinubu.
Former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore, has described the Nigeria Police Force as an “irresponsible organisation” that takes laws into its own hands, following his release from detention on Friday after meeting his bail conditions.
Speaking after regaining freedom alongside 12 others, Sowore accused the police of enforcing a court order in which they had vested interest. “It’s not the job of the police to take it upon itself to enforce a court order that it has interest in,” he said.
He maintained that no restraining order was ever served, alleging deliberate impunity and disregard for due process. Sowore also criticised President Bola Tinubu’s government and security chiefs, vowing to continue his activism despite repeated persecution.
