French authorities probe Shein for alleged sale of banned items

The French government on Wednesday launched proceedings to suspend access to Shein’s online marketplace until the Asian fast-fashion retailer proves it has removed illicit items, including “Class A” weapons and sex dolls resembling children. The Finance Ministry said Shein had 48 hours to show illegal products were scrubbed from its site, while the Interior Ministry sought a court order to block access in France



Shein said earlier this week it had barred all sex dolls and suspended its “adult products” category pending investigation. The Associated Press noted the Paris launch had already drawn criticism from environmental groups and Paris City Hall over its potential economic and ecological impact.
