The Federal Road Safety Corps has blamed fatigue and speeding for the accident that killed 21 Kano State athletes and officials on Saturday.
The victims were returning from the 2024 National Sports Festival in Abeokuta when their bus veered off the Kaduna-Kano highway near Gadar Yankifi.
Three survivors are hospitalised.
“The crash involved a coaster bus… 24 people on board,” FRSC said.
President Tinubu described the loss as a “devastating blow to the nation.”
The National Sports Commission has pledged new transport safety measures.
