The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has established a multi-million-naira emergency clinic on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway to provide immediate medical care for crash victims and curb rising fatalities.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has established a multi-million-naira emergency clinic along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway to address the rising number of deaths caused by road traffic crashes.

The Sector Commander, RS2.2 Ogun State, Akinwumi Fasakin, speaking at the commissioning of the Road Traffic Crash (RTC) clinic in Ogunmakin, said many victims of accidents could have survived if medical facilities were closer to crash scenes. He described the development as part of the FRSC’s broader mandate to ensure safety on Nigerian roads.

“With this development, many lives will be saved through the prompt response of medical service providers to the victims of road crashes. This project is in line with the vision of the leadership of the FRSC,” Fasakin stated.

The Acting Unit Commander, Phillip Gogomi, also highlighted the urgency of the intervention, noting that the Lagos-Ibadan expressway is the busiest in West Africa and prone to accidents due to reckless driving, drug use, unlicensed drivers, and faulty vehicles.

He said the clinic was initiated in line with the FRSC’s 2025 Corporate Strategic Goals to achieve a 10 per cent reduction in road traffic fatalities. Gogomi urged collective efforts to ensure lasting safety for motorists on the highway.
