“We have fought. I think… we have done what we need to do,” he said. “There’s no price that is too big for peace — I meant it.”

Suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara says he is ready to make sacrifices to ensure peace and stability in the state.

Fubara met with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike on Thursday in a late-night peace meeting brokered by President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja.

Speaking on Saturday in Port Harcourt after attending the burial of Wike’s uncle, Fubara told supporters that reconciliation was necessary.

“We have fought. I think… we have done what we need to do,” he said. “There’s no price that is too big for peace — I meant it.”

He acknowledged loyalists’ disappointment, saying, “If today there’s need for us to settle, please, anyone who genuinely believes in me should understand it’s the right thing to do.”

Fubara noted that political tension had stalled development projects but hoped peace would revive them.

“I can’t abandon you people… But the sacrifice… to achieve this total peace is going to be heavy, and I want everybody to prepare for it,” he added.
