Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara met with President Tinubu, pledging to honour his peace deal with Wike, while activist Ann-Kio Briggs demanded transparency on the agreement.
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Monday met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, pledging to uphold all agreements reached with the president and his predecessor, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
Fubara, who was removed from office on March 18 following the declaration of emergency rule in Rivers State, resumed duties on September 18 after six months under sole administrator Ibok Eket Ibas. Addressing journalists, he said: “Ideally, it’s proper for me to see Mr. President and to tell him that I’m back, and I’ve also resumed my responsibility as the governor of the Rivers State.”
He assured that peace had returned between him, Tinubu, and Wike: “As far as I’m concerned, we have made peace. My father and his principal are working together.”
However, activist Ann-Kio Briggs criticized the secrecy of the peace deal, saying Rivers people deserved to know the terms of the agreement that shaped their leadership.
