Nigeria swept the 2024 WAFCON awards after a thrilling 3–2 comeback win over Morocco, with Ajibade and Nnadozie among top winners.
The Super Falcons of Nigeria claimed the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title with a dramatic 3–2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Saturday night.
Morocco led 2–0 at halftime, but Nigeria responded with grit and quality in the second half to seal a record-extending win.
Coach Justin Madugu’s side was rewarded for its outstanding tournament performance with a clean sweep of major post-tournament awards.
Rasheedat Ajibade was named Most Valuable Player, while Chiamaka Nnadozie won Best Goalkeeper for her consistent displays. Madugu took home Coach of the Tournament.
Despite Nigeria’s triumph, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak secured the Golden Boot with five goals, while South Africa received the Fair Play Award.
