A new Gallup poll reveals a record 76-point partisan gap, with just 0.4% of Democrats satisfied with the country’s direction compared to 76% of Republicans, marking the lowest level of Democratic satisfaction in at least 25 years.
A new Gallup poll reveals a record-breaking partisan divide, with less than 1 percent of Democrats—a precise 0.4%—saying they are satisfied with the direction of the United States. This marks the lowest level of Democratic satisfaction in at least 25 years.
Conversely, 76 percent of Republicans report being satisfied, creating a 76-point gap, the largest Gallup has ever recorded. The polling shows Democratic satisfaction plummeted after President Donald Trump returned to office in January, while GOP satisfaction spiked.
Overall, just 31 percent of Americans are satisfied, a drop from 38 percent in May. Independent satisfaction sits at 25 percent.
The survey also found that only 40 percent of Americans approve of President Donald Trump’s job performance, though support among Republicans is overwhelming at 93 percent compared with just 1 percent of Democrats. Experts say the poll highlights deepening polarization. Columbia University’s Robert Shapiro told Newsweek: “Two things are at work. One is genuine Democratic dislike of what is happening … Second is partisan perceptual biases.”
