A Gaza mother of three says she could lose her hard-won scholarship at the University of Bristol if the UK government does not act quickly to evacuate her from the war zone.
A 34-year-old mother-of-three, Amany, has pleaded with the UK government to help her evacuate from Gaza so she can take up her scholarship at the University of Bristol.
Amany, who won a Phoenix Space scholarship to study Gender and International Relations, is one of 25 students still trapped because the Home Office has yet to add their names to evacuation lists.
“This opportunity represents far more than physical relocation, it is a lifeline to reclaim our right to education, dignity, and hope after enduring unimaginable hardship,” she told The Independent.
Displaced multiple times, Amany and her family have lost their home and now live in Deir al-Balah. She fears she may have to choose between safety and leaving her children behind.
British university leaders have urged Prime Minister Keir Starmer to intervene, warning that delays could see students lose their scholarships and risk permanent separation from their families.
