PFN President, Pastor Wale Oke says genocide exists in Nigeria but insists the killings affect both Muslims and Christians, urging the government to stop all forms of violence.

Wale Oke, National President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), has said that genocide exists in Nigeria but is not limited to Christians alone.

Speaking in an interview with The PUNCH on Sunday, Oke urged the federal government to take decisive action to end killings across the country, stressing that every Nigerian life—Christian or Muslim—matters.

“Our position is that genocide exists, but it is not just about Christians. Our concern is that whether Muslim or Christian, stop the killing, that is our priority,” he said. “We don’t want Muslims to die, and we don’t want Christians to die.”

Oke added that the PFN’s goal is to ensure that “genocide is stopped entirely — whether among Muslims or Christians.”

He reminded the government of its duty to protect citizens, stating, “Government exists for the welfare of its people. No innocent Nigerian should lose his or her life for any reason.”

His remarks come amid renewed debate over alleged Christian genocide in Nigeria, following calls by some US lawmakers for diplomatic action against the Nigerian government — claims the federal authorities have repeatedly denied.
