Ghana has confirmed the deaths of eight people, including its defence and environment ministers, in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday in the Ashanti region.
Ghana’s Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed were among eight people killed in a military helicopter crash in the Ashanti region on Wednesday, the government confirmed.
The other victims include three officials and three airforce crew. Describing the incident as a “national tragedy,” Chief of Staff Julius Debrah expressed condolences on behalf of President Mahama. Ghana’s armed forces said radar contact was lost with the Z9 airforce helicopter before the crash occurred.
