Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), in partnership with the FBI and the US Justice Department, has seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus from dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah, aka Shatta Wale. EOCO stated the car was connected to Nana Kwabena Amuah, serving 86 months in the US for financial crimes.

“In June this year… [EOCO] undertook an operation… in Accra,” the agency said. “The… seizure… [was] tied to… Nana Kwabena Amuah.”

Shatta Wale voluntarily surrendered the vehicle after requesting the seizure not be publicised due to its impact on his brand. “The officers were professional and civil,” the statement added.

Armed operatives were reportedly standard protocol. EOCO confirmed further investigation involving Shatta Wale and a former National Signal Bureau officer. “The FBI… intend to send a formal Mutual Legal Assistance… to return the car…,” EOCO said.

Reacting, Shatta Wale wrote, “Bringing guns to my house was uncalled for… Remember, God no sleep.”

A final report may be sent to US authorities.
